Krishnan trained under his father at age 14, learning the deep mortise techniques specific to Nilambur teak that have been refined over 200 years. He oversees all structural joinery at the workshop and personally inspects every joint on dining tables and bed frames before finishing.

Murugan is responsible for the carved details that distinguish Royal Nilambur's heritage pieces. Each motif is drawn from traditional Kerala architectural patterns and adapted to furniture scale. His finishing work — multiple hand-applied layers of natural teak oil — is what gives each piece its depth of colour.

Suresh specialises in the most demanding challenge in teak furniture: seating that is both structurally sound and comfortable. His chair joints are cut to tolerances that require no adhesive — the wood itself provides all the compression strength, which is why Royal Nilambur seating tightens over decades of use.

Before any piece is built, Arun selects the timber. Each plank is assessed for grain density, oil content, absence of knots, and dimensional stability. He works directly with Kerala Forest Department authorised depots and knows which growth seasons produce the densest wood. No piece ships without his approval of the timber.

When architects and interior designers need a piece that doesn't exist in the catalogue, Vijayan builds it. He works directly with clients to translate design briefs into technically feasible teak furniture. His projects have included a 4-metre dining table for a Bangalore villa and a complete bedroom set designed around a specific wood grain pattern.

Rajesh represents the fourth generation of the workshop, trained under Krishnan Rajan since age 16. He brings a contemporary eye to traditional techniques, designing clean-lined furniture that retains the structural rigour of heritage joinery. His storage pieces are among the most requested in the current catalogue.
