The Royal Nilambur Difference
Not all teak is created equal. The wild teak forests of Nilambur, Kerala produce wood of a density and character unmatched anywhere on earth — denser grain, richer colour, and an oil content that makes it truly self-preserving.

We source only 50+ year old Nilambur Wild Teak. The older the wood, the denser the grain and richer the oils.

About Royal Nilambur
At Royal Nilambur, we make one thing: furniture from genuine Nilambur wild teak. Every dining table, sofa set, bed frame, and wardrobe is handcrafted to order at our workshop in Edavanna, Malappuram — the heart of Kerala's teak country. We don't hold inventory. We don't ship off-the-shelf. Each piece is built for the customer who ordered it, from timber selected at government auction.
This is what "made to order" means in practice: your dimensions, your finish, your joinery preferences — built into a piece that carries a 10-year structural warranty and a material origin certificate traceable to its harvest block. If you've been searching for teak furniture that actually justifies the price, this is where that search ends.
Not all teak is the same, and the gap between wild Nilambur teak and plantation teak is not marginal — it's generational. Wild teak from the Nilambur valley of Kerala grows for 50 to 100+ years under Kerala Forest Department management before it's felled. Plantation teak, which accounts for most commercial teak furniture in India, is harvested at 25–40 years. Those extra decades produce timber that is measurably denser (680–720 kg/m³ vs 580–620 kg/m³ for plantation), measurably harder, and contains roughly three times the natural tectoquinone oil content that makes teak self-preserving.
The oil matters. It's what makes Nilambur teak naturally resistant to termites without any chemical treatment, why it weathers moisture and humidity without warping, and why documented Nilambur teak furniture from the 19th century is still structurally intact in Kerala homes today. The furniture you buy from us can realistically outlast everyone in your family.
Nilambur teak also holds a Geographical Indication (GI) tag — the same class of legal protection as Darjeeling tea and Alphonso mangoes. Only timber legally harvested from the Nilambur region of Malappuram district can carry this designation. Every log we source comes from KFDC licensed depots with a government-issued traceable number. Read the full story of the wood →
Our collection covers everything a home needs — from a single accent table to a complete dining room or bedroom suite. Because everything is made to order, dimensions can be adjusted to your space without any additional cost. Common customisations include table lengths, bed heights, sofa depth, and finish tone (natural teak oil, medium walnut, or deep ebony).
Most premium furniture you find in Indian cities has passed through a distributor, a regional dealer, and a city showroom before reaching you. Each step adds margin — typically 40–80% over the manufacturer's price. We sell directly from our workshop in Edavanna to your home. No distributors, no showrooms, no inflated retail pricing.
What you'd normally pay for a brand name and a glossy store, you pay instead for the wood and the craft. Our delivery is free across South India — Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana — and our craftsmen handle assembly at your home. For buyers outside South India, we deliver via trusted freight partners at a reasonable flat rate.
If you'd like to see the wood before ordering, you're welcome to visit our Edavanna workshop. Most of our customers outside Kerala order after a WhatsApp call — we send detailed photographs of the timber selected for their piece, and they can approve or request alternatives before we begin. Compared to engineered wood, yes — dramatically so. A well-made MDF or plywood dining table at ₹25,000–40,000 typically needs replacing every 10–15 years. Bought twice in 25 years, you've spent ₹50,000–80,000 and generated two pieces of landfill. A Royal Nilambur teak dining table at ₹80,000–1,50,000, bought once and maintained with occasional oiling, will still be in your family in 2125.
The teak also appreciates. Because Nilambur wild teak is a finite, government-regulated resource with a GI designation, documented antique pieces show 8–12% annual appreciation in secondary market sales. The furniture you buy from us today is an asset — not a depreciating expense.
We know this furniture isn't for everyone, and we're honest about that. If you're furnishing a rental or need something ready in a week, we're not the right choice. But if you're furnishing a home you intend to live in for decades — or building something to leave behind — there's nothing in this price range that will outlast, outperform, or hold value the way Nilambur wild teak does.
