Every piece of Nilambur Wild Teak we use comes from Kerala Forest Development Corporation (KFDC) licensed depots. We do not purchase from private dealers or grey-market sources. Every log has a government issue number traceable to its harvest block.
We maintain a full chain-of-custody record from forest block to finished furniture. Each customer receives a Material Origin Certificate with their order — a document that can be presented to any customs or compliance authority.
Plantation teak requires high-input monoculture farming and is often sourced from cleared natural forest land in Southeast Asia. We use only old-growth Nilambur Wild Teak harvested under strict Kerala state regulations, which govern which trees may be felled and how many.
The most sustainable furniture is furniture that never needs replacing. A Nilambur teak table will outlast 15–20 MDF tables. Choosing heirloom-quality furniture is the most effective way to reduce lifetime furniture waste — we build each piece to that standard.
The Nilambur teak forests of Kerala represent one of the oldest managed teak plantations in the world, with records dating to 1844. The natural-growth forests surrounding them contain some of the finest wild teak specimens on earth — trees that have grown for over a century under ideal conditions.
The Kerala Forest Department and KFDC manage these forests under the Indian Forest Act, with strict controls on felling cycles, volume quotas, and replanting requirements. The forest area has remained broadly stable for decades.
